Ikea Kitchen Cart Makeover

August 4, 2011 |  by  |  Before & After, Blog, DIY

Have you seen this fabulous sandwich station? I love how she re-purposed the drawer and painted the BEKVÄM Ikea kitchen cart white!

We have the same cart for a couple of years now and you started to see its age. For those who follow my blog know by now, that I ♥ l o v e ♥ to paint everything white.

So the color was out of question!

After I gave the cart two coats of white paint and let it dry for a while, the ‘pain in the butt’ part of the makeover began. I hand drew the outlines for the lettering.

I used acrylic paint for the letters. You can find some inspiration for your lettering here (check the logo), or here (printed napkins), here (printed placemats) and here (wall art) to name a few. If you like the font I used for my idea picture, you can download it here.

Then I attached the hooks and towel holder and the kitchen cart was finished.

Total time: about 3 hours.

Total cost: about $10 (paint not included)

The bottle opener a must in every party kitchen;-)

Now are you ready to cook? I made some caramelized tomatoes with sesame seeds and rosemary the other day. I will post the recipe soon;-) Yum!

If you ever decide to makeover your kitchen cart, upload your picture in the comments, can’t wait to see your projects!

Have a great evening!
