Little Christmas Cake Houses

I bought this silicone mold the other day and thought I would try it out. First I wanted to use chocolate instead of dough, but it turns out the molds are quite big and I didn’t want these huge heavy chocolate houses, so I used good old muffin dough ;-)

Everybody living outside of Germany can buy a similar mold here.

And here is the recipe:

recipe basic muffin dough

How to:
//Preheat oven to medium temperature.
//Line muffin tray with paper muffin cases.
//Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl and then mix in the oil and milk.
//Add the sugar and whisk until dissolved.
//Sift in the dry ingrediants: flour, baking powder and salt and mix until smooth.
//Fill muffin cases two thirds full and bake in the middle of the oven for 25 minutes.
//Leave to cool (or enjoy warm!)

If you are in the mood for a lot of baking, you can make this an edible advent calendar, cut out the flags, glue them to a tooth pick and stick one in each house. Even though the last houses may be hard as a brick once Christmas is up, I thought this was still a cute idea, for all foodies among us ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving!
