I’ve moved our fire pit several times, but it ended up in the basement, since we have only balconies, and it doesn’t really fit there. So I still didn’t want to throw it away and made a lamp/nightstand out of it.

I used the Ikea Lamp LAMPAN which was only 2,50! First I wanted to disassemble the lamp, remove the plastic stand to just hang the bulb, but it turns out, it was not necessary.

 Step-by-Step:

1. Prime the fire pit.

2. Spray paint it.

3. Take the lamp, don’t assemble it (or if it’s assembled, remove the shade).

4. Place it inside the fire pit and run the cable through the chimney.

5. Plug into the socket, voila!

And those, who have enough space, why not try to make your own cute bbq out of a metal bucket… or out of a flower pot maybe?

And this is pretty awesome!

I’m sharing a little bit of a different DIY today. It’s all about creating your own (online-) magazine! I was wondering for a while now, if I should include some blog tips & tricks on Funkytime, so who knows, if you guys like it, I might make this a regular column;-)

I did not actually know, that you can freeze alcohol, but it turns out you can, to a certain amount. Since Campari Orange has always been my favorite summer drink, I decided to turn the drink into popsicles.

Now I was in the mood;-) Mixed up a mojito and filled the cocktail into little plastic cups.

The popsicle molds are from Silikomart. The also have other cute shapes like hearts and chocolate bars…

To fancy them up a little, you can add rosemary (fits perfect with orange) or red current or anything you can imagine.

Lately you can find these wooden spoons all over the internet. When I found them at a local store, I decided to pimp them up a little and use them for our next birthday party. Well, I used the forks too.

Cut the plastic animals in half, I used a kitchen knife, so no need for a saw. Use an epoxy to glue one animal-half to the front of the spoon or fork, and one half to the back.

There is this super cute Etsy Store that sells tons of different designed wooden spoons.–> soo cute!

Little bit funkyknew, her wooden utensils were meant for greater things! –>funky!  Here is the pale version –>minty!

I have a treat for you today! And since I fell in love with daisies, they are of course part of the treat as well;-) It’s amazing how much nicer it looks, if you add edible flowers to your food! This flower-power-cake blew me away about a year ago, when I discovered the blog Green Kitchen Stories. Today I am making my own daisy version.

Recipe

1.Whip the cream until stiff. Take the 1st sponge cake layer and…
2…spread 2 tbsp of jam evenly.
3.Cut strawberries in slices and layer them over the jam.
4.Take a couple of spoons of whipped cream and add on top of the strawberries.
5.Take the second sponge cake layer and repeat steps 2.-4. and sit ontop of the first layer.
6.Take the last layer, add jam, strawberries and whipped cream, add a couple of whole strawberries in the center of the cake, sprinkle with daisies.

The cake is best prepared for the same day. The whipped cream doesn’t look so nice anymore after one day in the fridge. I also thought, that this was a perfect cake for Mothers Day.

Here is another great idea for strawberries- a strawberry chocolate bar! And check out these super cute muffins made with red fondant!

Have you ever made lollipops? It is super easy and fast, and you don’t even need a mold!

To pimp them up a little, I placed little daisies into them. You can also use other beautiful edible flowers or petals like pansies (Sprinkle Bakes used them and they turned out beautiful!), Chamomile, Lavender, Indian Cress, etc…

I used the ‘no corn syrup version’ , but I’m posting the recipe with corn syrup as well. All my German readers can look for recipes here, in case you don’t have corn syrup.

1. No corn syrup lollipops:

Combine the sugar and Cream of Tartar (or corn syrup) with the water. Stir them together until the sugar is dissolved. Boil the mixture until it’s 290 degrees F. (Or putting a drop of it in cold water, which results in a hard bead.)

Take it off the heat and then add the flavoring and coloring. Pour the mixture into the prepared molds like here.  Place a little daisy carefully face down on the hot candy. Then pour a little bit more hot candy over the flower  to cover the backside.

Cool down and wipe the powered sugar off of the lollies. Rinse them with a little bit of water to get all the sugar off.

I got many emails asking, where I bought the outfit from the  Magazine Spring Issue.

Its kind of like a ballerina costume. Cotton on top, tulle on the bottom. Like here. I bought it at H&M 2 years ago.

There is a really nice Etsy store that has beautiful tulle dresses, but it’s custom made and therefore quite pricy! The store is called Ouma.

And if this is not expensive enough, there is always D&G with their Carrie Bradshaw skirt (mint!) – Perfect DIY candidate!

But you can probably DIY it. There is a nice tutorial here and a long version here.

Hello ladies! Hope you had a happy Easter (it was raining here, so no Easter hunt this year) !

This is another freebie and DIY from the Funkytime Spring Issue.

This is a cute gift for coffee addicts like me;-) You can print this onto a white paper bag or make your own paper bag out of letter sized paper and just fill coffee into a zip lock bag and bag it with the paper bag.
